2. General Info
Canada is the worlds’ second largest country in the world and its border with the United States is the longest in the world. Canada also has the longest coastline at 202,080 kilometers. The country is a federation comprised of ten provinces and three territories.
The vastness of Canada results in a variety of landscapes and climates. North, east and west are dense forests, the Arctic region, towards the North Pole, is an ice desert where only few people live. Because of its area, Canada is one of the countries with the most lakes, most of which can be found in the Great Lakes district.
Most of Canada is English-speaking except for the province of Quebec (eastern-central area) where the official language is French and whose capital city is Quebec City and one of the most important urban centres is Montreal.
