Useful hints about how to get to the airport
The easiest way to reach Athens centre or the airport is one of the express busses serving the airport. Reasonable transfer times and fares will provide you a convenient service.
By car: The Athens International Airport is located 33km southeast of Athens and is easily accessible via Attiki Odos, a six-lane motorway constituting the Athens City Ring Road. The main corridor providing access to Athens International Airport is Attiki Odos, a high-speed toll motorway, connecting Eleusina, Athens’ western gate.
Toll free access to the airport can also be obtained through Lavriou Avenue and other primary roads. Driving from the Southern suburbs or Piraeus, you can find your way to the airport avoiding tolls via Possidonos Avenue or Vouliagmenis Avenue, Varis-Koropoiou Avenue and finally Attiki Odos motorway using the airport junction.
Drivers should take into consideration that parking is not allowed outside the main terminal building. Free parking is provided for 20 minutes in all airport-parking areas.
Bus: There are four public bus routes serving the airport exclusively, connecting the greater area of Athens and Piraeus with the airport. Two express buses serve the airport on a 24-hour basis, the E95 departing from Syntagma Square in central Athens every 25 minutes and the E96 departing from Karaiskaki Square near Piraeus port every 20-40 minutes.
A third express bus, the E94, runs from the Ethniki Amyna metro station to the airport every 16 minutes from 6am till midnight. The € 2.94 ticket is valid for one journey to or from the airport and unlimited journeys on Athens buses, trains, trolleys and metro for the rest of the day.
Underground: You can combine the Attiko Metro with the public bus express services to the airport: Metro line 3: “Ethniki Amina” station – Express bus E94; Metro line 2 & 3: “Syntagma” station – Express bus E95; Athens – Piraeus Electric Subway: “Stadium of Peace and Friendship” station – Express bus E96. Taxis: The airport is accessible by taxi on a 24-hour basis. Passengers reaching the Airport disembark at the Departures level, where they can proceed directly to the check-in counters. When leaving the airport, please make use of the taxi queue next to Door 3 of the Arrivals Level.
Car park: Athens International Airport provides 4.700 spaces for short and long-term parking. They are situated in front of the Main Terminal Building on either side of the Airport Hotel and across the Airport Main Access Road.
