2. Boarding
Since 2006 security checks have been intensified and may take longer than anticipated. Please arrive at the
gate in time to avoid any unnecessary delays.

Since November 2006, the security checks at airports all over the world have been intensified. Therefore,
please take into account the prolonged waiting times and make sure that you are at the airport at least 2
hours before your scheduled departure time for European or short-haul flights. For long-haul flights, you
should be at the airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure time.
You should also take into consideration the additional security measures for your hand baggage when
travelling to or from an airport in Europe and the extra security check at the gate for all passengers, including
transfer passengers.

Please be at the gate in time to avoid delays. (At least 40 minutes prior to departure)

If the gate has closed before you arrive (10 minutes before departure), it is possible that your seat
will be cancelled. In this case, you are not liable for the so-called ‘denied boarding’ compensation.
3. Transfers
When your ticket includes two or more flights in the same direction, e.g. London – Athens - Johannesburg,
which are less than 24 hours apart, you are supposed to transfer to a connecting flight. Your checked
baggage will be automatically sent to your final destination, where you can pick it up. You will be informed at
check-in in cases where this service does not apply.

When checking in for the first flight you will receive boarding passes for all your flights, including your
connecting flights. Nevertheless, this may not be possible at some airports due to technical reasons and
passengers may have to check-in again at their interim stop.

If you are travelling to/from Schengen countries, you should expect having to go through security checks and
customs inspections, passengers may have to check-in again at their interim stop.

For more information please ask staff at one of the Transfer Desks in the terminal.
